  1. Recently my office began digging deep into DNN as an option for our web apps. I fell in love and decided to migrate my personal site. No problem I thought - I've done it at work already and it was a breeze.

8 HOURS yes HOURS later...I now have my base DNN site (v4.4.0).

I went to the KB article and followed those steps and ran into what I came to find was a common error - Not enough disk space. Ok I started my search, dotnetnuke.com, asp.net, the KB, this forum....finally I just went through page by page of the ASP.NET Starter Kits category until I found an answer, although it was slightly vague and no longer trusting I kept reading for a clearer explanation, no luck.

PLEASEDiscountASP.NET Mods - I'm begging you...update theKB on file with the following information:

(insert after D.2-Create a Web Application)

    - Log on to your control panel (https://my.discountasp.net)
    -Navigate to the User/Quota Manager
-Confirmthe activeusers are: , Anonymous ASPNet User, and Anonymous User (IUSR). Allocate a Quota of 200MB each for the ASPNet User and IUSR accounts (by clicking the corresponding "Edit" link). If all users are not set up add user and allocate quoto in the input area provided.

This allocation had me at a stand still, THEN I was stuck on the fact that when I viewed my permissions in the Permission Manager the IUSR and ASPNet users were not listed.

Ultimately I just crossed my fingers and tried again and it worked.

DiscountASP.NET Mods - if the KB article cannot be updated, then please post a NEW KB article with a script to delete the database table, sp's, views, etc so we can start over w/o having to recreate the entire db.

I hope this helps others. Amazing enough I'm not even upset...happy now that I've got it I can get to playing and customizing my site!!

  2. This was nice of you, I've personally been waiting to see some feedback on the current DNN release.

If you search the forums I do remember, Bruce I think, had covered the user quota once before.

Thanks a bunch for posting the tips.

    All the best,

Yes, I can see that others have had similar allocation issues installing DNN, so we can certainly update the KB article.

I assume the allocation instructions you have outlined should be listed before the attempt to install DNN with the Web Application Tool (I haven't ever gone through the installation myself)?

  4. I installed the latest version on a folder just to see how it went, got it working, pretty slick app.

I made a backup of my SQL 2005 DB first, used that backup to remove the changes.

The only problem I had was the root /bin/ folder.
Had to sync some of the same controls to the DNN /bin/ folder, after that it ran fine.
Ended up having two identical /bin/ folders just to be safe. [IMG]

I installed the latest version twice, wanted to test it as a Start Kit from within VS.
The Starter Kit option worked much better, I thought.
    All the best,

  5. Sorry for my delay in replying.

Yes, the allocation can be done essentially any time after the sql and site is set up on DASP's side and must be done BEFORE running the actual url of the dnn site for the first time through the web.

The way dnn install works is basically when you navigate to the file location folder (NOT root as mentioned, dnn, dotnetnuke, whatever you've named it) for the first time (via a web page) after you've copied all files over - the installation is kicked off. For this installation to complete correctly the allocation must be correct.

You're correct - Bruce did comment on this before And I'm not the first requesting the update of the KB article....

Thank you DASP for listening...still the best hosting I've ever found.
