You can check out the DNS manage in our control panel demo at: http://www.discountasp.net/sp_cpdemo.aspx

  2. Eric,

Thanks for your reply; unfortunately, at the end of my original post I indicated that you need to add screenshots (or, for that matter, dummy data) of your domain manager to your control panel demo.

This infers that I've already seen your demo. It doesn't demo anything on DNS. Why can't you answer the actual question?

If you get into the demo control panel, then click on the DNS Manager link on the left navigation, you will get to the DNS Manager. Click through the warning screen, Click on the Primary Domain (you can manage DNS for the root domain pointers as well with our DNS Manager). We won't be adding screen shots because customers can actually click around in the demo DNS Manager and see it for themselves.

  4. Hi Jon,
I'm currently working on Webcasts for DiscountASP.NET and any requests are welcome.
Screen shots and videos are available at any customers request.

I don't know a thing about PHP but in the Screen shot I've attached do you have all the control needed?
    Salute,
    Mark

  5. This is all I get there. Were this not the case I wouldn't be making such a stink.

  6. Thanks wisemx .. so the answer to the original question is: Yes, to three of the four parts of my question but not the HTTP redirects, which can be done manually through web hosting. Got it, thanks.

  7. Does the Domain Manager support any or all of these?

    - custom A records
    - custom CNAME records
    - custom MX records
    - HTTP URL redirection

I have a dedicated Linux server account with serverpronto.com that I use for tinkering with PHP and miscellaneous stuff .. been using it to proxy my IIS site which is behind my cable modem at home, and now I'm looking at building some real web apps which forces me to choose either Ruby on Rails or else drop this dedicated server and go with discountASP.

I am just BLOWN AWAY by the level of features of discountASP, and being primarly an ASP.NET guy I'd be totally at home here. Problem is, I make heavy use of BIND on this linux box to manage several (about 10 or 15) domain names, with different mail hosts and different hosts. I'd like to know that the Domain Manager is adequate for my needs, even if I have to pull back on the domain playground that BIND is...

And BTW if DASP is reading this, IMO you guys should get at least a Domain Manager screenshot or a few of them up on your Control Panel demo, along with some detail tooltips on your frequently-pasted features tables.

    Thanks,
    Jon

  8. It would seem that I got confused over "Domain Manager" and "DNS Manager".

I'd like to strongly recommend that you guys make them adjacent. :) :) That said, I apologize, you were right, the DNS Manager demo withsample datawas and is accessible.

    Thanks,
    Jon

  9. UUUGGHH .. I forgot to confirm in my research of your product that accounts can have unlimited domains, before I went and ordered an account w/ 1 year prepay. It looks like you only get to control one domain!!

Keep going from excited to frustrated to happy to mad .. right now I'm angry. I mentioned I had a dozen or so domains, why didn't you guys comment on that?

Would somebody please read the entirety of my original post and sell me on this product before I seek a refund?

    Jon

  10. Acct. cancelled. I saw domain pointers as costly add-ons but those just tack onto the same site. Subdomains(wildcarded)are also costly add-ons which I think is rediculous to charge for.

Enough ranting .. I still like the product, it's just not for me right now, very specifically intended for a single web site and a single domain.
