  1. Hi all,

I have searched the forum but have not found a situation similar to mine.

I have a site hosted here at discountasp.net. My DNS records are still pointing to my old host's nameservers at this time mainly because the current registrar and host is hosting an Exchange server for the client's mail services.

I need to understand how to set up DNS so that www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com point to my hosting account at Discount while no change is made to the pointers to the Exchange server.

Since i am on a shared hosting account at Discount, I am wondering how to set up a host header so that both www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com resolve to my shared hosting site. When i go to the IP address listed in my countrol panel with a browser, i get an error message stating that the website is unavailable. I want to keep DNS records at the current host handling the Exhange server.

    Thanks!

    K

If you want to maintain DNS service through your current provider, it's not really a problem.

The reason why your site isn't displayed when accessing it via IP address is because we offer name-based hosting which uses shared IP addresses. So, if you were just to create the A Records using the IP address of your web server, you'd be all set.

If you need to browse your site via IP, you'll need to subscribe to either the Unlimited Subdomain addon or the SSL addon through the Addon Manager in your DiscountASP.NET Control Panel or you can just use the alternative URL that's available on your Account Information page.
