Do I need Add-on to use SQL Server Express?

Do I need to purchase an Add-on for my site to use my SQL Server Express database?

The data is in the App_Data folder, but trying to navigate to my site throws a (generic)err msg, and I'm suspicious that this is the reason...

 

SQL Express is not supported here, but for good reasons, so please don't get upset about that.

Well, let me be certain that it really is SQL Server Express that I've got in my app, because it seems awfully strange to me that VS 2008 would create a database for you in a format that can't be hosted (what are you going to do with a web app but host it?)


My file has the .mdf extension. That IS a SQL Server Express database, right?
