  1. Hey guys,

I'm currently waiting for the CSR from you to get SSL going. Now I was wondering whether there are any limitations in picking an SSL provider. I wanna go through cert.startcom.org as they provide free SSL certificates. If I didthis on my own IIS their instructions say that I first have to install their ROOT CA and Intermediate CA under the Trusted Root Certification Authorities. So before I get the certificate I wanted to check with you whether that would be a problem (or maybe some of your customers already have certificates from startcom).

    Thanks, Christoph

Most SSL certs nowadays require installation of Intermediate Certs. We will install all the Intermediate Certs on the server.

The SSL market has become very complicated now because of the multiple level trust. I recommend you get a Verisign or Thawte cert (they are little bit more expensive but it works on almost all browsers). We have seen some cheap cert that don't work properly on some browser on certain platform.

  3. thanks for the heads-up with the low-cost certificates. however my client base is only very limited as i'm running a couple web services that my application invokes.

if this is only for web service use, you should be good with these low cost certs.

  5. We don't support installation of ROOT certificates, though.
