  1. Hi

I am have a site currently in your US facility that I have been using as a test bed. When in France, it seems the performance is somewhat slow.

Do you have an easy solution that would allow me to "mirror" (or whatever) my site in both your UK & US facility, that would allow me to rericect traffic either by geo?

    Thanks

  2. ...There are ways to sniff the host country but with the entire Internet still being "stateless" those methods are clumsy.

Don't you think it looks awesome when a site gives the visitor a choice? I do.

Go ahead and host both sites, both with a header that has links.
All of the large file download sites are doing that now. Give the user the choice.
    Just a suggestion

Wisemx's suggestion will work in theory, but not particularly easily with our service. We cannot have two DNS entries for one domain (we do not run separate DNS for Europe and US), so you couldn't serve the same content out of both data centers without using a redirect of some kind to a second domain. We also do not offer data mirroring, so that would have to be a workaround as well.

Doable? Yes, but not pretty and not simple. If you can use two different domains (or a subdomain) it could be a little easier. But the data mirroring is still an issue. And if your site uses a database, that would have to be in one location or the other, or you would increase the complexity of your setup quite a bit.

Not to say it can't be done. It sounds like an interesting project. But it would be a project.

You can find hosts and services that will mirror your site from different geographic locations, but those services typically come at a steep cost.
