  1. I recieved a letter from:

    Domain Registry of America

Saying that my account was soon due to renewal, and i should consider switching to them instead. Has this anything to do with discountasp.net, or should i just discard this?

Discard that notice. Please review this knowledge base article: http://kb.discountasp.net/article.aspx?id=10287

Ignore that. They are notorious domain scamsters. They harvest addresses from the whois databases and send out their official looking "renewal" notices, hoping that the recipient will not bother to read it completely, or does not really know who their domain registrar is. If you pay their ridiculously high "renewal" fee, they transfer your domain to themselves, and once that it is next to impossible to wrestle it away from them.

These thieves also go by the name Domain Registry of Canada.
