It is not a limitation to Windows hosting but to shared hosting. In a shared hosting environment new accounts come with a shared IP address. The calls to your account uses the IP address to connect to the right web server then uses the domain name to get directed to the correct webroot. If you want subdomain capability, it is necessary to get a unique IP address on your account. That is an extra addon separate from the default hosting plan. That addon is $5/month. Once you have a unique IP address any subdomain name can easily get routed to your root directory because it now holds a unique IP address.

hi, before i'll create an account here, would like to know if I can point a sub-domain to my account web root directory.
just got this question because i have an experience from other hosting that they 'charge' for sub-domain to be directed in the same dir.
well, i will just illustrate it.

it happens that if I add a sub-domain and would like to have it as another site, it would be forwarded most likely to another folder.

so if we have sub1.mydomain.com then they recommend to forward it to my physical dir which will result to
sub1.mydomain.com/subdomain-foldername/

what i would like is the sub-domain would still use the sub-domain name and not forwarding the requests to a sub-folder.

my question is, do I have to pay for it in here with my requirement? or Is it really a limitation to windows hosting?
