  1. It seemed that the discountasp DNS servers were down - unpingable. I could still ftp into my site, but I could not reach it via URL. I am kicking myself now, I should have tried to use the IP address to see if that worked.

I would appreciate an explanation, it was a lengthy outage and I want to have something I can take back to my site members with to explain it.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Lots of down time today what happened?

  3. I too have lots of downtime (3 different sites and servers).

I emailed them from my yahoo account (since email was not resolving either) and have yet to hear back.

I do not understand why DASP can not have a status page.

I know that I sound a little bitter, but it has been suggested by others for a long time, and has not been implemented yet.

Let me finish by saying that for the most part I am VERY happy with DASP.

  4. I agree, I am very happy with the hosting here in general, but when it comes to a crisis there is room for improvement. I don't think anyone here would be confrontational is they announced a failure and the reason why - we understand that a reasonable amount of downtime is to be expected in the computer world. But communicating this information is critical to keeping customers informed and if not happy, at least satisfied that a problem will be resolved.

When there is no communications, there is a black hole of uncertainty that causes a great deal of stress. There should be some means to contact them incrisis, maybe even just to hear a recorded status of the outage, if nothing else.

I also e-mailed support from my hotmail account, but did not receive any reply. I understand if they were elbow deep at the time they can't get back to me, but several days have now passed and still no one has explained this outage. That is a lack of communication problem that is really very easily overcome, and will greatly increase customer satisfaction. My website visitors want to know why we were down, and I can't offer any explanation.

  5. Bruce

    Bruce DiscountASP.NET Staff

the data center hosting our servers had a power issue (one of the Power Management Module failed). It took down our customer database system which prohibit us from doing any form of communication.

According to our record, we responded to every email in our helpdesk but we got some customers saying that they never recieve any of response. We are looking into the matter.
