  1. Hello

As a relatively new subscriber to DiscountASP, I should say I am extremely pleased with the system's services and speed and capabilities... with the exception of email support that is!

Yes, I read the thread on "Email - Spam filtering... Is it working?". However I have had the same domain hosted on other ISPs, and their spam filtering was far superior.

I would like to take it upon myself to host my own SMTP server, and download my domain's email, and upload my domain's email. That way, I can perform my own spam filtering. However, I can find no information in the knowledge base, and the email tools in the control panel do not provide the required information.

What I'd like to know is whether it is possible to setup SMTP with DiscountASP??

As an alternate request, could DiscountASP re-consider content filtering? However instead of blocking emails considered spam based on content, simply prefix email subject lines with a standard prefix such as {spam} on all emails that are determined to be spam. That way the end RECIPIENT of the email message can do what they want with content-filtered spam. They can read-and-reply, they can move to a junkmail folder, or they can outright delete them. The point is that they have been flagged, the end users NEVER LOSE emails, and the end users can spend more time dealing with customer emails instead of spam emails.

    Any thoughts?

Do you mean you want to host your own POP3 server? SMTP server is just for sending email.

Once you set up your email server, all you need to do is to point the MX record over to your email server's IP address in the DNS manager in the control panel.

We are looking into various different types of spam blocking software but so far we have not been able to find the one we think work good enough.
