  1. Currently we provide system wide filtering based on ip addresses listed in distributed block lists. We currently source our lists from spamhaus's sbl and xbl list, we also use the single hop list provided by dsbl.org. This prevents a large amount anonymous spam that comes to the system but not everything.

That is quite a bit of spam, currently we do not have any other spam filtering methods available for customers, we are working on adding additional spam filtering features though we do not have a time table for such features right now.

Regarding the dormant account, we recommend removing them when un-used this will cause the mails to bounce which if the spammer is tracking bounce backs will indicate to them the account is no longer valid. Though I know this is not always something people can do.

These are items that are getting through, not because of specific settings for your accounts. We currently highly recommend using the spamarrest.com services if you want to dramatically lower the amount of spam you receive. It is quite effective.

  2. I normally don't go in and mess around with the hosting options that much. But... I just logged in and found out that SPAM filtering is supposed to be in place, and is a system wide thing.

I am asking this question, because on a given daily basis, I get about 200 spam messages (no joke).
And another account we had dormant (because of a job change), we just logged in and had over 1,000 in just a 2 week period.

So... Is it just that these items are the ones getting through? Or is something up with my settings.

    Thanks (cmoaklawn.org)

Try spamarrest!! It's the best way of deterring spam.

My personal account (established in 1996) used to get about 500 spam a day. I tried many type of filtering and they either do not block enough spam or it had a high false positive ratio. Since I started using spam arrest couple yrs ago, i am getting almost none. The little subscription fee is SOOO worth it!!!!

    check them out http://www.spamarrest.com
