    I see discountasp.net is using really old version of smarter mail. I also saw a lot of posts about problems syncing email with iphones/ipads. What's the possibility of getting a modern imap mail server that works well with phones and a good web client.

    We are in the preliminary stages of a SmarterMail upgrade. I can't say when we may proceed, but it's being worked on.

    Not sure what you mean by "modern imap mail server." There really hasn't been a change to IMAP protocol over 15 years, and of course you can use IMAP with SmarterMail.
