  1. Hi, everyone --

Trying to get a 16X16 pixel icon to appear in the IE address bar in place of the small IE logo. It seems I should be able to do this just by uploading the file, named favicon.ico, to the root of the Web site. This has not worked for me.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Eric

  2. whats your url? That should be all you have to do.

My guess is either you need to restart your browser, flush your cache or your icon file is invalid.

  3. You'll need to add the site as a Favorite in order for you to see the icon in IE. In shows up in Firefox regardless if it's bookmarked or not.

  4. Thanks, guys. It was a problem with the .ico file itself. I had read elsewhere that you can just rename favicon.gif to favicon.ico, but that apparently did not do the trick. I converted the icon to .ico at http://www.htmlkit.com/services/favicon/, and then it appeared correctly.
