Hi, I need to know how can I change my username in discountasp.net and where can I view my file manager where I upload files and if I can deactivate the service for a while so that a person who type my registeres url gets nothing and how? thank you.
"I need to know how can I change my username in discountasp.net" In our hosting environment you will not be able to change your username. "where can I view my file manager where I upload files" You can use a FTP program in order to view and manage your files. Also, with the FTP program you will be able to upload your files. I would personally recommend FileZilla. You can download this here. To learn how to connect to your site using FileZilla please read our knowledge base article here: Configuring FileZilla to access your web site " I can deactivate the service for a while so that a person who type my registeres url gets nothing and how?" You can stop your site through the control panel here: https://my.discountasp.net/web-manager/iis7-stopstart.aspx (Just don't forget to start it back up when you are finished)
few questions about web hosting Hi, it's the first time that I use a paid webhosting account generally I used a free account so I uploaded my files directly to the server so I want to know why here we are using filezilla to upload files? and I want to know what does the logon type mean I choosed the normal but what does it mean, plus what does the transfer mode mean and finally what does the encryption use plain ftp mean does it mean that my data is not sent encrypted is it sent as visible if so how can I make it encrypted? thank you.
We like to use FileZilla because it is free and produces good logs for troubleshooting. Logon types are the kind of username password handshake that your FileZilla client will attempt to engage with the web server you are connecting to, we support Normal but you can find more information on this topic on this page. http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Site_Manager You can find more information on Transfer Modes in this section of FileZilla’s WIKI. http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Transfer_Mode Normal FTP transfers are not encrypted and it is usually not necessary to encrypt your transfers, however if you would like to you can by following the instructions in this Knowledge Base article. http://support.discountasp.net/KB/a318/how-to-set-up-filezilla-to-use-ftp-over-ssl.aspx
