  1. Hi

Today first time only i use this service. I want to know how can i restore database for the first time to DiscountASP my account ? Here i read that in tool u can restore throgh using backup tool. But nothing is there on sql server. I want to use my local .bak file to my account database. How can i do that ?
pls help me with this to start sql server ASAP.

  2. You can restore the BAK file by going in your Control Panel to the SQL 2008 or 2005 page. In this page, you'll be able to see a tab called SQL Tool Suite, which allows you to restore and back up your database.

All you'll have to do is upload your local BAK file through FTP to your hosting account, and use the SQL Tool Suite to restore it to your database.

  3. Thanks for reply. I did same as u suggest. Still i get error : Failed. Your database has been rolled back. Please contact Technical Support for details.

  4. I'd recommend that you open a Support Ticket so that they can provide you with the exact error that the restore is getting. Then we'd be able to go about the issue

  5. I create Support ticket. And i got reply. Error in log is :
Error: System.Exception: More than 1 data or log file in bak file

I am having full backup and having .bak file which i try to restore.

This error means that the database you backup contained multiple data file (ndf). The restoration tool will not work with database backup with more than 1 data file.

  7. Ok. I am taking backup from Management Studio. Can u guide me how do i take backup which doesnt take more than one ndf files ? Please help me in this procedure beacuse i am not finding any option to not to select ndf files. Only one backup file is generated.

sigh... you are not getting it.

You CANNOT take a backup for only a single data file. What you need to do is to REMOVE the additional data file in your database and use the CP to take backup.
