Forum without DB

  1. Hey guys and gals,

I have used Snitz Forum with another website that I had on discount.asp and I loved it. Down the road a few months that is the direction I will be going again. At the moment I have not bought the MS Sql Add-on to save myself a few bucks for a couple months....

Question is this...without having any of the DB Add-ons, what is my best option to provide a Message Board on my site for a few months to get me by.

Thanks in advance to all responses!

  2. You can always try using MS Access database. This maybe a good temporary solution. Normally we don't recommend using Access because it was not designed for server side use and it gets unstable when it's holding alot of data and multiple connections is hitting it. But if you're just starting your forum this may be a good path for you. Remember if you plan to keep your forum and upgrade to SQL later down down road, you'll have to consider the migration from Access to SQL. There is not alot of documentation on this. So you'll need to check Microsoft's website to make sure you can easily migrate over to SQL from Access. I belive Access has a help Wizard to help run the process of migrating to a SQL server so you should also check out its help files.

  3. Hi,
It is easy to use an Access DB for Snitz forums and them upgrade to SQL Server.
I've done that on DASP servers and without any data problems or loss.
    Salute,
    Mark
