  1. Since I was building my initial web site with FP, I thought I had posted questions for a support forums solution.

I've found a reference to a very nice free BB/Group Forums solution here:
    http://community.discountasp.net/default.aspx?f=21&m=6043

I just wanted to share this with DiscountASP.net people.
And place this thread where it belongs.

    discountAsp.Net rocks!

    Thanks,

  2. After considerable reasearch on Bulletin Boards / Forums /Community servers...

Iloved the look and feel of free ASP.Net forums. And its connection with discountAsp.net.

I was looking for a way to move the ASP.Net forums from my desktop to my discountAsp.Net when I found that I had to pay extra for SQL Server and could NOT use MSAccess instead. Even though the setup looked as though you can.

Has anyone moved to MSAccess with ASP.Net forums?

For now, I've decided to research and setup PHPBB Free Forums.

    http://www.1-2-free-forums.com

Has anyone made a comparison that they would like to share?

Or perhaps read one somewhere they could post the link to?

Again, I much prefer the ASP.Net forums look and feel right out of the box.
Anyone have a link to instructions on how to move my forums from my test desktop to my discoutnASP.Net web site?

    Thanks,
    Baz

i think the conversation will be difficult and you probably don't want to use MS Access.

PHPBB is a really good forum, we have many users using it.

  4. Bruce,

what's the licensing fees involved with hosting dotnetBB and providing it as a service for a shared hosting environment?

    brian,

we do not charge you any fee for hosting dotnetbb. You have to own the license though.

Enterprise Developer Edition (single domain, unlimited servers) is $570.

  7. Bruce,

yeah, i know you don't charge a fee, but i was wondering about the cost of the license itself for you guys?

  9. Hi Bruce,

    Thanks for the reply.

You are correct about moving to MSAccess with PHPBB.
I was hoping someone had already done this.

    I've moved to SHNForums instead.
    http://www.shnforum.com/forum/

It's much faster than PHPBB (for me at the moment).
Probably since its MSAccess and I have very little content.

And no extra charge for running SQL Server.

Its got all the features I want without overkill.

Which suits me until it starts generating traffic and content.

    Thanks,
