Once I'm done building my new site, I'm going to make the changes to the DNS servers. The new site has different page names and content than the old site. After I make the changes and switch over to the new host and content, I'm going to delete the old site completely. My question is, will I lose the page ranks with search engines, specifically Google? If so, is a 301 redirect the best answer to the solution, and does this mean I have to leave the old site up forever? Thanks.
Hi, It doesn't take any of the bots long to find your site again if you use good tags. Something you many want to do is use hidden fields in pages for the old content. Salute, Mark
since it is the same domain name, you do not need to perform a 301 redirect. I would keep the GoDaddy account for at least 1 week after you make dns update. Bruce DiscountASP.NET www.DiscountASP.NET
