  1. I'm using Visual Studio 2008. Do I need to use front page extensions if I'm using a windows 2003 IIS6 server?

Under IIS tools it says: "IMPORTANT: FrontPage Extension manipulates NTFS permissions. If you do not use FrontPage or Visual Studio to publish your site, then do not install FrontPage Extensions, as it can render your site nonfunctional."

I don't want to use them if I don't have to.

  2. Hi,
    No, no, no ;-)
In VS2008 you will be better off using the "Copy Web site" feature.
    1) Open your local site project.
    2) On the toolbar click on Website then Copy Web site.
    3) From there Connect then use the FTP options.
You can sync local to remote, remote to local, etc.
No FP extensions and your site will be cleaner and easier to manage.
    Salute,
    Mark

please... don't use FPSE if you do not absolutely need it.

  4. Thank-you. I never used the FTP option before. Visual studeo threw and error saying front page extensions were not installed when uploading via html. So, thanks.
