FTP is a protocol. You can use any FTP client to FTP, like cuteFTP. You can find others here: http://kb.discountasp.net/default.aspx?cNode=5S0L1E&pNodes=0F0W3S and many authoring tools have built-in FTP.

If you don't have the credentials to FTP, you'll have to get it from the webdeveloper or you'll have to contact us and authenticate the ownership of the account.

    Hi there!

im having abit of trouble with FTP access and i am given a timeline to do the necessary changes by the management for the client.

The trouble is that the previous webdeveloper left the company without informing the passwords to the FTP. No one else as well seems to know even what kind of FTP he uses for the client.

    My question is that:
    1) is it possible to use other FTP i.e cute FTP?
    2) If yes, will it hamper the existing website such as database?

Thank you eric =) i have gotten into the FTP successfully.

    Just another final question:
Say example you wanted to update the website. all you have to do is just drag and drop the file into the FTP? it'll just automatically updates itself?

Assuming you have the updated file on your own computer, then you would simply ftp the file over to the webserver. You would overwrite the older fileon the webserver with the new updated file.
