Gallary photos won't fully load when selected.

  1. I'm using the Jeremy Wadsworth extended starter kit. I wonder if anyone has seen this issue.

When you click on an image to open it up it only loads the top half or so of the image. If you click refresh 4 or 5 times it eventually loads but not always! This doesn't happen with each photo but seemingly random with about 80% of them.

This kit has an option to Lightbox the photos which you can toggle on or off in the global settings. This problem occurs whether that is toggled on or off so I don't see it being the problem.

I've purposely tested sizing the photos small, medium and large thinking its the size of the photo but that also doesn't seem to matter. I even uploaded some of the pictures on JW's kit to my server to make sure it wasn't a size issue. Still had the same problem even though they work fine on his site.

The last bizarre thing is this doesn't seem to happen on all computers but most of them. For example my desktop zips through them all (cleaned out my cache) with no problem while my laptop has about an 80% failure rate. Both are on the same broadband connection with fast processors.

Crazy huh? Me and my endless problems. :)

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Thanks,
    Tony

  2. I still haven't found a solution for this problemyet but I thought I would share some testing that I did.

If you look at Jeremy's site: http://jeremywadsworth.com/all the images in the gallery on his site work fine and open completely.

    TEST:

I blew away all the stuff on my DASP account yet again, downloaded a brand new installation of JW's kit that I hadn't modified.

The I downloaded 5 images from http://jeremywadsworth.com/gallery and uploaded them to my DASP server. Even HIS images only load halfway.

    Conclusion:

So if Jeremy and I (and others seeing this problem on DASP) are all using the same code base, the same images (in this example), can I blame DASP?;-) What am I leaving out of this equation? I'd open a ticket on this but I'd get the "As we do not provide development support, please post to our forum regarding this matter." :)

    Anyone?

  3. Well...We're all on shared servers here so some things can cause bumps but...
It appears that advanced SK has some code tweaks a few of us might spot related issues with.
I was going to test his latest version here for you but noticed I had to register.
I don't mind but we'rehaving final services fora decorated Marine and I've been, um, wrapped up.
Keep us posted, as you see we've got your back. [IMG]

  4. Problem Solved...........sort of.

It's a browser issue. Something changed in the latest version of IE that causes the pictures to not load. I wish I knew what THAT problem was because now I have to direct peopletoward an older version of IE or to Firefox.

    Here is what I found:
    WORKS:
    Firefox latest version
    2.0.0.11
    work desktop
    7.0.5730.11
    sons desktop
    7.0.5730.11

    DOES NOT WORK:
    daughters desktop
    6.0.2600.00
    home desktop
    7.0.6000.16546
    wife desktop
    7.0.6000.16546

  5. Ok here is the real and final solution to this problem.
A very helpful person rewrote the handler in a way that is a little more forgiving to latency in the database. This fixed the photo problem across ALL browsers and versions! Instead of copying the code here I'll link you guys to the post:

    Enjoy!
