Getting at my data

I have a community starter kit being hosted here. It works just fine. A great deal of data is now being stored in whatever databse it uses. How do I access this database? I urgently want to back up the data that must be stored there. I hvae downloaded my site via FTP but can find no trace of any of the databse contents.
I am computer literate but no expert at any of this.Its just a web site for my club.
I would appreciate being pointed in teh direction of either the databse or the tables...
