  1. Hi

    can anyone help? unfortunately i didnt realize that the company i did work for wanted to keep their email with godaddy and now i have to change the mx records, but what they put doesnt match what i see specifically in discountasp.net?

    they said

    • yourdomain.com ? MX preference = 0, mail exchanger = smtp.secureserver.net
    • yourdomain.com ? MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mailstore1.secureserver.net

    can anyone walk me through the changes i need to make? i saw another post on this but it was from a few years ago and it didnt seem to be the same.

    thanks

    You want to add new MX records for those - In Control Panel the "Distance" field relates to what they are calling "MX preference," and "Destination" relates to "mail exchanger."
    So you would enter this one:

    yourdomain.com ? MX preference = 0, mail exchanger = smtp.secureserver.net

    Like so:

    Domain Name = Don't enter anything - yourdomain.com will already be there by default.
    Destination = smtp.secureserver.net
    Distance = 0
    TTL = 3600 (default)

    And this one:

    yourdomain.com ? MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mailstore1.secureserver.net

    Would be:

    Domain Name = Don't enter anything - yourdomain.com will already be there by default.
    Destination = mailstore1.secureserver.net
    Distance = 10
    TTL = 3600 (default)

    After you get those set up you will want to delete the MX records that were there by default.
