  1. Has anyone successfully installed the Graphics Server .NET developers kit on their development machine and run it with VS.NET 2005?

I am having trouble with it.

    1. I downloaded the developers kit.
    2. I installed it.
    3. I configured VS.NET 2005 to have the controls in the toolbox.
    4. I followed, to the "T", their walk through example

Butit doesn't work in VS.NET 2005. All I get is a blank [x] unresolved image in place of the control. I also do not get any errors and with Trace on, there is no indication of a problem.

I think that the install and walkthrough directions are written for VS.NET 2003. So I am wondering if it works in .NET 2005.

I repeated the same steps with .NET 2003 and have the same results.

I'm wondering if there isn't a server setup step that is missing from the installation instructions.

    Please Help.

  2. I am having the same problem. I follw examples and chart shows up on DiscountASP.Net server, but not on PC. It was installed in the GAC. I think something else needs to be registered.

  3. Talked to Graphics Server Technologues support. They said that the free version offered on DiscountASP.Net does not work with VS 2005. You have to buy full version. :(

  4. Golly....I'll bet Bruce is already looking into this however. [IMG]

  5. I punted on this graphics solution awhile ago. I am surprised that DiscountASP.NET would post that they offer this graphics solution and yet you can't use it. That really sucks and is a black mark in my book for DiscountAsp.Net. They'd have been much better off just saying they don't have a graphics solution.

Of course, the better answer would be to make this available on .NET 2.0

  6. It does work with vs.net 2003, which was the most current version when we released it.

I don't think it's our fault that their component is not compatible with vs.net 2005.

  7. It is not a matter of fault, but of service. I fully understand that it works in .NET 2003, but .NET 2005 has been out for plenty enough time to get that working. I doubt many people are developing to many NEW websites on .2003 and your services should be progressive. By example, you support SQL Server 2005.

Well, our business development team is always working on trying to provide our customers with the latest versions. However, component vendors are all different and some are willing to make upgrades easy, while others decide to make the upgrades more difficult. I don't know about the nature of the discussions with graphicsserver but at this time, we do not support the latest version of this particular component.

If the most recent version of the componentare mission critical, we recommend that you purchase the component. Please remember that component vendors are in business because they sell their components. They would not stay in business if they just gave away their components. The component vendors willingness to work with hosts is determined, in part, by the upgrades they sell as a result of these types of partnerships. Our business development team works hard to try to provide our customers with thelatest and most diverse and useful components - but all component vendors will need to do their own cost/benefit analysis - so, if any of the components are mission critical, we would encourage customers to buy them so that it helps our team to continue our discussions with component vendors.
