  1. Hi everyone. I am an absolute ASP.NET newbie. Is there any resource (ie instructions, etc) within the that will help me successfully set up my first site (ASP.NET with with SQL database)?

    TIA

  2. Hey Chris...
If you're really new, and you need a website up and running ASAP, check out the Starter Kits at www.asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=8&tabid=47. The Starter Kits provide out-of-the-box functionality and with a little tweaking (which is pretty straight-forward), you'll have a site running in no time. And the kind folks here at DiscountASP.NET will set you up with one of the Starter Kits for free. However, the Starter Kits typically require SQL Server, just so you're aware.

If you wish to build a site from the ground up, a good place to start is the ASP.NET quickstart tutorials (www.asp.net/Tutorials/quickstart.aspx).

And a great place to get your questions answered is www.asp.net/forums

    Hope that helps...
    JP

  3. Hi JP. Thanks for pointing me to the Starter Kit and the ASP.NET quickstart sites.

In terms of hosting a site on DiscountASP, can you tell me where to find the details of how to set up the environment, file locations, security, etc? (Told you I was new at this!)

    Thanks again,

    Chris

  4. Hi JP,

Too easy! I have just opened an account with SQL...

    Thanks for your help!

    Cheers,

    Chris [:)]

  5. Hey Chris...
Do you already have an account with DiscountASP.NET with the sql server option? If so, create a support ticket asking them to set up the Starter Kit of your choice and budda-bing.
Else, you'll have to set up an account with them. See www.discountasp.net for details.
