Help migrating from IIS6 to IIS8

Discussion in 'General troubleshooting' started by JohnBF, Aug 3, 2013.

  1. I'm just starting to work on migrating several sites on several DiscountAsp accounts from IIS 6 to IIS 8. I'd appreciate pointers or links to where I can learn more in the knowledge base or forums.

One initial question: after migrating an account with just test sites I can get to the sites with the alternative URL but not the regular URL. Does it take more time for the DNS pointers to be redirected, or do I need to do anything? (just noticed earlier post on this - submitted ticket to support)

    Thanks.

    /John

    Hi John,

If your domain name is using our name servers then you need to allow more time in order for the DNS propagation to take place. You might also want to consider doing a DNS flush to flush out your old DNS entries your computer has stored: http://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html
