Hi, My current website is hosted on DASP and can handle the traffic each day easily. I am preparing for a conference in July and I will have 2500 users accessing a newly designed area of the site every hour registering for sessions for 8 hours a day over a 4 day period. This will be the height of the traffic and also the worst case scenario. They will need to access anywhere between 3 - 6 pages each visit(login, register, logout)and there is no guarantee how long they will stay on the site. I am sure the servers can handle this amount of traffic as it is probably small compared to high traffic websites. I just want to cover myself in case I am missing anything. Any suggestions?
The traffic in your scenario is not an issue in and of itself. That isn't really an excessive amount of traffic for a site, and certainly doesn't present a problem for the web or database servers and the network itself. What will potentially show stress under a load is your application, and we can't really predict how it will perform. Has it seen any high usage in the past?
