Home directory inaccesible

I'm a new customer and just setup a new hosting account. I've setup my email and sql2005 addon. I know the email may take a while to get setup, but I cannot upload my site. I'm using the Alt FTP url that was given to me, but my ftp client states that the home directory is inaccessible.

Does it take a while for the alt address to be usable? I thought that was an instant thing.

Don't feel bad bro, that's happening to a lot of IIS7 users.
The little Pipe command even cripples each version of Expression Web.
