Hello, Anyone have any suggestions on how I can do user-friendly maintenance of my websites? What I really want do is the following: Step 1: Put on a 'Maintenance Page' in the look and feel of my websites. Step 2: Stop my app working. Step 3: Upgrade db, apps and all other files that need upgrading. Step 4: Start my app. Step 5: Test my app. Step 6: Remove maintenance page and opening for users... Any suggestions on these steps? Bruce, thanks for your replly ... the question though is ... how to do it. The Stop/Start button in IIS control for example, does not allow for customized maintenance message. It does not even say maintenance. Actually, that's the first step to solve .... Any ideas on how to do that? Paul Just here to learn and enjoy! www.reddingssloep.nl
you cannot customize that page. What you can do is to put a simple HTML Page on your site (name it say maintenance.htm) and point default document to that page. Bruce DiscountASP.NET www.DiscountASP.NET
OH.. BTW. If your site is written with ASP.NET, you can consider using this feature http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2005/10/06/426755.aspx Bruce DiscountASP.NET www.DiscountASP.NET
