Not having to learn how to administer TFS is one of the main reasons for wanting a hosted solution, but what if we change our minds? If we use your hosted TFS solution for a while and then decide to bring it in-house, how hard would it be to download all the information in our collection--including the complete history of the source code (not just current versions), work items, etc.--and load it on our own server instead? Our code is our most valuable asset. Before we put it on someone else's servers, we'd want to make sure we can get it back whenever we want.

If you used our TFS service and wanted to move off our servers at some point that is certainly possible. It can be difficult, but it's possible.

We are still working out the procedure for importing existing projects onto our servers, and it is not a simple task. But it's possible, and as we refine our process for importing it will all be documented, and you could conceivably use that documentation to move out as well as in.

In any event, it's your database, so if you leave you can certainly take it with you.
