How do I Create a Mobile Application Using an API?

    My name is Ramell and I'm trying to create a WAP on discount.net. Whenever I ask them to give me some literature on how to setup a WAP on their servers, they tell me that they don't have anything on how to set it up but they do support it. Anyway, I'm not really familiar with what an API is or how to use it, and was wondering if someone could share with me how to go about setting up your WAP on discount.net. At this point anything that you can provide me will be helpful.
