  1. These outages have severely crippled my business, and I need to explore a new host. I have always noticed that access to the database is slow, so I want to try out another host to see if it's discountasp.net or the software we use.

How do I get a .sql file to import to another host. Is it as simple as renaming the backup file to .sql?

I called the tech support line for a competetor, and got a live person in 10 minutes to answer my questions about moving our database. WIth thesze guys here, I'm completely in the dark as to what is happening.

    enough is enough....

If you can get into the control panel, use the automated sql backup tool. You will have to talk to the other host to see what services they provide as far as transferring the sql database. Since, our sql server and their sql server are configured differently, thethe backup you get from our sql server may or may not transfer easily. Only way to find out is try.

Please note that what we are experiencing is a malicious and massive ddos attack that is equivalent to more than 667 T1 lines. Our business and all our customers busiesswere crippled because of this attack. We post in this forum when we can (see News section) and we emailed all our customers when we could yesterday and we are posting updates at (offsite page) - we are working with our upstream provider's security team on this. We're doing what we can and working as hard as we can.
