  1. After today's DOS something happened to my access mdb file and it is corrupt. I don't have a backup. I have submitted help desk tickets but I have received no response. I need the backup copy that discountasp.net has restored to my database directory. How long does this process normally take? My business runs off of this one database and my customers will leave soon if I can't get this problem resolved soon. Can someone please help me!!!

  3. Thanks for the reply. My ticket number is 736368. Bottom line is I can't do business without this being restored. I could lose my current subscribers in a few hours.

  4. I was told by support that they have no backup of my MDB file.I don?t understand how you can?t have a backup of my .mdb file. I can copy the database via FTP in a browser anytime of the day. Why couldn?t your backup do the same?</o:p>

  5. Isn't part of the terms of using DiscountASP.net as a hosting service that you backup your own files?

If the file was so important, then why didn't you back it up?

If it's so easy to backup the file via FTP, then why weren't you backing it up?

    Sincerely.

  6. I was backing it up. I tried to upload a modification on Thursday and the process just hung up. I then downloaded the file and replaced my current copy on my pc. Unfortunately the database on your server went from 3 Megs to 4K. My guess is the FTP transfer up to your server got screwed (during the DOS that your company can't seem to handle). There is no doubt that I screwed up by not keeping a copy daily but I believe it is reasonable to assume that a hosting company knows how to do an "active backup". Unfortunately I shouldn't assume that a company knows how to do anything.</o:p>

MS Access backup is not always reliable because when backup will fail if the file is opened (or exclusively locked).

I recommend you periodically download your MS Access database to your own computer or consider using MS SQL.
