How to assign IP to @ in A Records

  1. I don't have a lot of experience with DNS stuff, so this may be an obvious question.

    I have been told by my IT dept that I need to set an IP address for @ in the DNS A Records. However, I don't seem to be able to in the DNS Manager. The DNS Manager seems to require ____.domainname.com.

    Any help would be appreciated.
