How to connect to SqlServer via Management studio 2005

    I get the following error when I try to connect to the sql server via management studio. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 1231)
    How can I enable remote connections?

    Make sure your ISP or network firewall allows port 1433 to pass through.
