  1. We have an application and database on discountasp.net that was developed and placed there by a person who is no longer available to our organization. I have someone willing to help, but he says he needs to access the IIS console to help us. Here's his message to us:

"Without access the IIS console I can't configure the application to run. I can't do that through the dashboard. The database file is on discountasp server. However the application can't run without proper configuration. If you want you can contact them to see if they can assist you to create a virtual directory for the sports folder.

I'd appreciate some help on this.

    Thanks,
    Rocky

  2. Hello,

If your new web developer needs to make a directory work as an application
we have a Web Application Tool in the control panel that can do that for you:

    https://my.discountasp.net/webapplication-tool.aspx

However if a virtual directory is needed you will have to open up a ticket with
support and they can create the virtual directory for you.

Are you on a IIS 7 server?

-If so you can access IIS (if needed) by connecting through IIS manager.

You can find more information on the IIS manager page of you control panel at:

    https://my.discountasp.net/web-manager/iis7-manager.aspx

  3. Thanks for the feedback. I don't know if we are on a IIS 7 server. We are a non-profit, and discountasp.net was generous enough to provide us with free lifetime hosting, but I don't know the details. Is this something I can check from the control panel?

    Thanks

  5. I guess we have IIS 7; here's what I found:

Web Server Type: Windows 2008 - IIS 7.0

Have your developer check the links in keikoraca's post. That should be enough access to do anything they need to do.

There is no console access to the servers.
