Hi, I'm trying to locate some documentationon how to export from my local IIS to my dasp IIS. The link in hot topics doesn't appear to be working. My specific problem is that I don't see the import function available on my connected site in IIS manager. I think I've done everything I need to make this happen (MS IIS Manager tab features all enabled and using my control panel login to connect to the site) Thanks in advance John
Sorry. The link to How to Deploy your Development Web Site and Database to your Live DiscountASP.NET Server using the Web Deployment Tool in IIS Manager has been fixed.
OK - that didn't help but let me reiterate: "My specific problem is that I don't see the import function available on my connected site in IIS manager" - and let me add that I do have the export/import available on my local site. I have granted users Microsoft IIS Manager access via the MS IIS Manager tab on IIS Tools in the control panel. I have connected to the site with my control panel user. I have followed the instructions in the link above - although I didn't need to include the database (note for others - you don't "need" this step). I have the package in a zip on my machne. I am connected to the site and cannot see the "Deploy" function when I right-click on the application under the site. I though maybe connecting to the application directly may solve it - so I tried that - no joy. So I'm now thinking that there is something preventing me (permissions perhaps? - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725632(WS.10).aspx) from seeing the import functionality. Can anyone suggest something else that I might be doing wrong? Thanks. John
If you aren't seeing the deploy option from the right-click menu on the application that you have defined, it's possible that there might be a server configuration issue. Can you please open a new ticket using the Support Portal with the Technical Support department and include a reference to this post so I can take a look or have one of the senior systems administrators investigate further?
Ah! - Well, you see, I did just that - first - because I thought it was a server configuration error. So I raised a ticket - 105-12E4B6DE-3771 - and was directed to the forums by Jose. So far (and I know it's the weekend so I'm being patient), I have no reply to the reply I sent him. John
I saw the ticket. Truth is, we never tested exporting because we figured no one would use it. The issue has been assigned to our developer. we'll get back to you once we confirm this.
