IIS Manager 401 Unauthorized upon connecting

Discussion in 'General troubleshooting' started by fraize, Dec 19, 2012.

  1. I'm trying to connect to my server, and I'm getting a 401 Unauthorized error when I attempt to do so.

I've seen several forum posts that suggest that I not use the preceding www. when putting in my domain name, not use "Connect to server," rather use "connect to site." I'm using my domain name and not the alias. I'm not using the preceding "http://" in the server name field. I've created the user in the control panel and given that user access rights...

None of these hints that have helped other users work for me. A little help, please?
    Thanks!

For the server name: You need to use the Your alternate URL address. This can be found in the control panel's Account Info/Edit section. Look for the field: Alternative URL:

For the site name: Use your domain name. For example if the domain name is: Example.com Then I would need to use Example.com in this field.
