IIS Permissions Issue for additional users

Discussion in 'Windows / IIS' started by dweese, Jul 9, 2009.

  1. I added 2 additional users and gave them permission in the permission manager as well as on the IIS manager page, but they are unable to login to edit the settings. How do these users access the IIS Manager? I can access, but I am the account holder. I tried logging in under their user nameas well as Account|User and neither worked.

    Thanks,

    Dan

  2. Whats the error you're getting? Are you able to access IIS 7 using your main account?

  3. "Control Panel Login and Password not recognized"

Is the message I see. I've tried it with theirs and with a new one I created. Am I just accessing it through the wrong portal? I can access through my main CP account, but I don't want to give them my user name and password. I shouldn't have to.

  4. I had the impression that you are trying to access our server using IIS 7 Manager. If you are trying to create additional users to access your discountasp hosting control panel you will not be able to do so. We only allow one user to access the discountasp hosting control panel.

  5. No, I am trying to give one of my people access to the IIS Manager so he can figure out why his pages don't work when he uploads them. I'm not a web guy, I just own the account. How do I give one of my employees access to change settings on the IIS Manager?

  6. The error message you are getting "Control Panel Login and Password not recognized" is a specific error message that means you are trying to sign into the control panel. The control panel has a URL "my.discountasp.net". This is not the IIS Manager. Look at these KB articles to get some guidelines on how to use IIS 7 Manager to connect to our IIS 7 server.
