Is there someone I can talk to live?

  1. Hello,

I'm a new web designer and I'm making my first form on a website I'm doing for someone. I'm having a confusing time figuring out how and what to do inorder to make it work. I was told that ASP should have some kind of a script that I would use to make my form work. Anyways, after having gone back and forth a few times with some of the administrators here, I'm still without a working form.

Is there a live technician that I could talk to... a phone number or something. I'm already late in finishing this website due to not being able to make this form work, and it's just taking too long going back and forth on this forum site. Every time I get an answer it creates a new question. I just need someone to clarify what I'm supposed to do, and how I'm supposed to do it (concerning the form and script and what ever else is needed)

I'm not mad, I just need some quick consistent dialogue so I can finish this all.

    Thank you,

    Kevin

  2. Unfortunately DASP does not offer coding support via phone. I can't think of a single host that does.

Your best bet is this forum or if you really need to speak with someone, ask some of our forum and offered to pay for their time.

  3. When I reply to this post are you alerted? I'm wondering, because I want to know if I can talk back and forth decently quickly.

our forum participants usually respond quite quickly if they have an answer to your questions.

In reading some of your forum post, it looks like you are having problem with formmail. To be honest, aspformmail is one of the simplier asp application you can deploy but you still need some sort web developmentexperiences.

Have you consider using FrontPage or other editors that have drag and drop formmail?

  5. I have not. But I am willing to if it will allow me to finish this project. Will it allow me to just do that one thing while still using GoLive for everything else on that page? Because I have already made everything in GoLive. My brother is an experienced web designer and has done many forms (he uses GoLive as well.) and he said that the webhost should have a script or a formmail thing (something like that) and that I would then link what I've done in GoLive to that. But I don't see any script. I was beginning to think that I deleted it from the CGI bin by accident. Because there was something originally there when I first went into the site on my FTP. If possible, I'd like to continue using GoLive. I can follow directions pretty good, I just need some basic explanations.

    thank you for your time.

  6. Many of us will do the work for you, in your coding language of choice.
It is true that some hosts have canned scripts, the beef here however is the community support and the knowledge base.
You almost have a Genie in a bottle here, speak your wishes and watch what you get... [IMG]

  7. We'll, first of all, I tremendously appreciate your encouraging reply.

The program I'm using is GoLive.

Will start a new topic right now called 'I need help making a form work- I'm using GoLive.'

  8. I used to use GoLive several years ago for ASP.
We used it and Interdev together with SQL Server for commerce sites.

When you post for help just be sure to mention the code language you'd like to have the code for.
    i.e. ASP version 3, ASP.NET version 2.0, etc.

  9. Can you explain what that means (I really am sorry, I'm really new to this) How do I know what code language I'd like the code for? What are ASP version 3, ASP.NET version 2.0, etc. for?

  10. ASP version 3 was the last version of what is now known as Classic ASP (Active Server Pages)

DiscountASP, DASP, supports classic ASP and especially ASP.NET, with 2.0 being the most current full release.

The main differences between classic ASP and ASP.NETare ASP is interpreted and one-way while ASP.NET is compiled and 2-way.
Both are dynamic server-side languages, both have a ton of features.

  11. What do these do? I see you said in parentheses that ASP stands for Active Server Pages, but what are these for. Where do I use them - what does this 'tool' or whatever exactly ASP and ASP.Net 2.0 do? And after I learn what it's for, where do I get it?

    Thank you,
    Kevin
