Loading data from server

Our asp.net application does queries against the database (more than 500 queries each run),
for performance reasons we are considering to load a serialized dataset from the server
(via server.mappath) and do the queries against this set instead of the sql server.

Is loading/saving data to physical server paths allowed and do they count against
the bandwidth allowance?

If you are running ASP.NET 2.0 with SQL 2005, I recommend implementing SQL cache dependency. See http://community.discountasp.net/default.aspx?f=24&m=9653. This wayyou don't have to worry about saving temporary dataset files to your site, which will count against your disk space quota (not bandwidth).
