Hey, I need to set up a listserv or at least a static mailing list. I was expecting/hoping there would be something built-in to discountasp.net but there isn't (you all probably know this already). So, surely others have this need. What are you doing for your email list or listserv needs? Custom solutions? Anyone got any open source code to do the trick so I don't have to reinvent the wheel? Thanks!
There are services out there that you can use. Some examples: Yahoo groups, internetmailmanager.com, constantcontact.com,intellicontact.com, exacttarget.com ...etc. Eric DiscountASP.NET http://www.DiscountASP.NET
Thanks for the response! I know there are services, but I was wondering about something I could put on my hosted site. I'm subscribed to a Yahoo list and it gets spammed pretty badly. How are those other services in terms of spam?
Have you tried Dada Mail? It'sa perl program, but it's been around for a long time, and it's free: http://mojo.skazat.com/ mjp DiscountASP.NET http://DiscountASP.NET
is dada mail supported under windows? When i visit their site it talked about unix server so i was wondering if you guys support this over windows 2003 IIS 6 hosting for my client. If you do, they don't have ssh account included in their package so how can i install this on your server? Lastly, if using dada mail I need to be able to shed light on the following concerns: - do I need to type the email address of the recipient manually? - What if I have lots of email addresses to send it to? Can I create group lists? - What If I want to see how many emails have been succesfuly sent? - Is there any limit as to how many emails I can send on a per hour basis? I'm sure there is a limit to this but I'm also pretty sure that with a mailing list built into your system there is none so long as the user is opt-in... - I would also need a script to put on the website where users can subscribe to the newsletter, but I dont think my client's account include a database from their current package. I just don't know if this is at all possible with their current package. Sorry for being naive, this is my first time to handle asp.net and first time on mailing list systems... Thanks in advance!
