Is discountASP.net thinking of participating as a hoster in Microsoft's new Website Spark programme, http://www.microsoft.com/web/WebSiteSpark ?

The registration page asks which hoster you're registering with

  2. ...I'm not a DASP employee but can tell you a few things while you wait for an official response.
DASP is a valued Gold Partner and works in-hand with Microsoft for each new venture.
Currently there is a Sandbox here for some of the new features and the staff is testing some exciting new technologies with Microsoft.
I'm also working with Microsoft on this and will be helping here in the forums and creating Webcasts as requested.
This is all very exciting. ;-)
    All the best,

Our team did discuss this program with Microsoft a little while ago. Unfortunately, the way Microsoft designed the hosting partner program with WebsiteSpark disqualifies DiscountASP.NET as it is only open to dedicated and vps hosters. So DiscountASP.NET could not participate.

  4. ...bummer.
That kinda surprised me because Msft extended it to me and I don't run Web servers.
(The WebSite Spark provides the Web edition of SQL Server 2008)

I am going to help with this, for both DASP and Microsoft.

From what I understand they are aiming this at developers and designers. The hosts come into play because Microsoft wants to be able to offer a deal on hosting, so they need participating hosts.

  6. ...Got'cha.
They gave me three very fat PDF's to read, to be honest I got sleepy. :)

Original poster here. Although the MS websitespark signup form asks for the name of a participating hoster, I just checked the Register through MS Contact box instead and they signed me up and gave the 3 free MSDN licenses (which is nice).

So it looks like you can take advantage and stay with discountASP

    Interesting how these programs work...
