I've been on a 2003/IIS 6 server for several years now and I think it's time for me to migrate to a server running 2008/IIS 7.

I have converted my app from Visual Studio 2008/.Net v2 to 2010/.Net v4 already and it seems to be running well locally.

Do DiscountASP allow us a couple of days "grace" to try and get a migrated app up and running on a 2008 server before breaking the existing one on 2003 server?

It would be nice to get the new app up and running before finally "flicking the DNS switch" to the new IP address (which I think you get when you move).

Any general tips about the migration?

We have 30-days money back guarantee. You can open a new hosting account on IIS 7 platform, test your application, cancel the account within 30 days, and receive full refund.

  3. We usually keep your site running on the old server for 3 days before removing the files. However if you run into issues, you're more than welcome to contact our support department or open a new thread on this forum.

Just to clarify, the site will not be available on the original server or on both servers after migration, only the files would remain on the old server. Once migration completes the site can only be served from the IIS 7 server, even your alternate URL will point to the new server. So it is not possible to migrate and tweak on the new system before DNS updates. All of the changes are made at the time of migration. It's an automated system.
