What is the migration path for accounts already created on IIS6? Is it as easy as requesting to have your account switched to an IIS7 box?
In your control panel you will have an option to run Integrated or Classic. Classic will allow you to run in a similar IIS6 environment. There's a good article on this in the March 2008 issue of Technet. You can also find information on the IIS site. http://learn.iis.net/ http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/150/understanding-sites-apps-and-vdirs-in-iis-7/ http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/244/how-to-take-advantage-of-the-iis7-integrated-pipeline/ The DASP crew is working on information for the Knowledge base here also.
I think I must not have worded my question very well... I'm notasking about new accounts created on a Win2K8/IIS7 server. I'm wondering about the transition for those of us who already have accounts on Win2K3 and IIS6. You're saying there's just a button somewhere in the control panel that will magically transition my app over to a completely different server running Win2K8 and IIS7? What I'm trying to figure out is, once I have my app tested locally on IIS7, what do I do to get it migrated at DASP?
You need to contact support for a specific answer on account transfers to 2008. I have been testing a 2008 account with code and so far everything works from Visual Studio the same as it did before. Even some Linq to XML tests I ran were the same. From my own, current, observations most transfers should not see any trouble. Salute, Mark Note: If you want me to run any specific tests on 2008/IIS7 let me know.

I have the same issue. I opened an account with discountasp last wednesday solely because of iis7 hosting. I did not know that the beta hosting would actually create a new account for you and that your default account wout be set up on w2k3. I would like my default account moved to IIS7. I have not published anything there yet, but I have a domain attached to it.
We are working on an easier migration path that you will be able to start and monitor through Control Panel. We hope to have it ready within the next week or two, but in the meantime, keep emailing support if you want to move. And PLEASE read all the caveats and warnings in the email that they send back to you. I know it's long, but there is important stuff in there. Things that may affect your decision to migrate. mjp --- DiscountASP.NET
