  1. Hey Guru's,

I recently started looking at using PHPBB as a forum and decided to test it out (it's free - can't hurt).

During the installation - I could not connect with my Database. I am ASSUMING this is because a MSSQL2008 ODBC has NOT been set up for 2008 at this point.

If this is the case and PHPBB will NOT be compatible with 2008, I'm wondering if there are any users who could guide me to a solid free forum that is indeed compatible with MSSQL2008.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    MJB

  2. Mark,

    Nice to see you around.

This looks like a pretty solid forum structure. I'll definitely check it out.

I found another one which I'll post here. I played with it last night and it seems pretty strong as well. I'd love to get some good developer feedback on it.

You hit the nail on the head. phpBB doesn't properly support MSSQL 2008 *or* 2005via their default config file. We tried making changes to the config, but connections were still unsuccessful. We don't generally dig too deep into third party applications such as these to try to remedy these kinds of issues (the fix may not be complicated, but welimit ourselves totesting "out of the box" installations), so until phpBB updates their code we have removedit from our list of "applications that have been successfully installed and tested."

  4. Hi,
I have successfully run WebWiz forums on DASP, twice for large communities, own a lifetime license.
    Always performed very well.
I've also ran Snitz forums several times on DASP servers, I like it a lot, easy to modify and the team there is awesome.
Both of those are Classic ASP coded but there is a .NET version of Snitz in beta right now, that I have not tested.
    Salute,
    Mark
