  1. I've been experimenting a bit with the user manager that is currently in beta testing--perhaps I misunderstand its scope or I'm simply using it incorrectly, but I'm unable to get what I'm attempting to work correctly, and for the life of me I can't find any docs.

    * created two new users via the user manager via my.discountasp.net
    * let's call one of these "Bob"
    * using the admin login, I create a webdir called "/Bob" in my root.
    * using the priveleges manager, I then allow Bob, the login, read/write to /Bob the directory
    * FTP using Bob's account now works. He's dumped to an empty directory
    * Bob goes to upload a file, no dice, permissions fail. Manually specified that the remote dir even be /Bob, still no dice.

    Experiment some more.

    * Log in as an admin
    * drop a random graphic in /Bob
    * log in as Bob, said random graphic does not appear upon FTP login (which now makes me assume that Bob's not in /Bob upon logging into the FTP).

    Can anyone provide some assistance so that Bob finds /Bob and is able to read and write files to it? :)

    The user created with user manager is designed to provide web authentication.

    Though technically possible, we do not recommend using extra user as ftp user (especially if you want the extra user to only go to a single directory).

    We are evaluating another FTP server to replace the IIS FTP server which allow us more flexibility.

  3. So is this problem fixed yet? It doesn't much help to tell a subscriber they have 3 FTP users if they can't FTP to a folder as someon other than the site admin.

    I created a user and assigned read/write permissions to a folder and if I login as that user I CAN'T access the folder. If I login as the admin of my entire site I CAN access everything.

    I subscribed to this site because it allowed my asp programmer to be able to FTP to a specific directory for testing purposes. If he can't do that then I don't really need to be here do I?
