how to transfer my domain from the old ip address? Dns manager ?

 

my domain is from mydomian.com I just did the server name update and they ask me the ip address follow the DNS server, that's not neccessary, right? because I don't know what the NS1.DISCOUNTASP.NET ip address...


so I need to wait untill it's been transfered to discountasp.net?

I think I just need to use the ip address that DNS Manager gives me, the redirect my domain ip address, that can point the website to my need ip address, then my website works right? I don't need to change DNs server,right?

 

I don't understand your last question, but you do not have to enter the IPs for the name servers when you change them at the registrar.

You don't have to touch the DNS manager here (we recommend that you do not change anything in the DNS manager unless you really know what you're doing). Just change the name servers at the registrar and the domain will point here.

my question is : when I entered the DNS Manager here, I saw it gave me some ip address for my website, so , on the "mydomain" side, I just point my website to the ip address which I got from here, then, it's done, does this way work? or I chage the ip address there and I aslo need to add the domain servers in "mydomain" dns management?

 

well, I used to point the ip address to my server's ip in my domain register whose name is "Mydomain" 's DNS's management .

NS2.DISCOUNTASP.NET to my domain service in "mydomain" , that's it? I don't need to point my website ip to the ip that I got from here over the "mydomain" side? if so, I just leave the ipaddress blank over the "mydomain" side?

Measuring the speed at our network connection is irrelevant most of the time, because the speed you or a visitor perceives is largely dependent on distance, network latency, speed capping by ISPs, how your application is coded, if your database is optimized and indexed...

 

I have updated the Domain server.and the speed is not that complicated, just how many 'M' user can get from discount directly, I don't know how to caculate it, average? like 10M /1000 user? tracert last hop is 269ms in discount.... not light

 

You can't calculate an average, it doesn't work like that.

We have two primary backbone connections to the US data center, one is a gigabit, the other about half that (burstable [immediately adjustable] to whatever we need at any given time). Inside the network all connections are GigE, so theoretically we could push a gigabit of traffic to one server at one time.

I say theoretically because there are routers, firewalls and a Tipping Point intrusion detection system between the servers and the backbone connection. And of course it is unlikely that the most powerful web server could serve a gigabit of traffic for any sustained period. The limitations of the operating system and physical memory would come into play.

So the bandwidth is not parsed out in increments per XX number of users or per server. It's all there all the time, for every server. Usage and availability to one particular server varies throughout the day.
