Offsite Domain Host and Local subdomains

Discussion in 'Domain names / DNS' started by statirasystems, Mar 18, 2013.

  1. Setup:
What have our domain via Network Solutions. It points here(discountasp.net), which is were our site is. We use discount's DNS to simplify our external applications such as Google Apps. ie docs.website.com so on.

    What our goal is:
We want to have a couple custom web apps on our account here, but we want them as sub domains. One application is a routing service. The example sub domain is routing.website.com, which would point to a sub directory of the site where our application is stored.

Do I have to sign up for the sub domain's add-on to have sub domains on my site? Will it run the application without interfering with the main website?

    Thank you,

    William

  2. yes i would suggest adding the unlimited sub-domains add-on then if needed you can use either URL redirect scripts if on IIS 6 or a much easier way to accomplish this is my the URL rewrite module in the IIS 7 manager application.

Also, the add-on also gives you a unique IP address instead of being on a shared IP.
