When you are sending messages through a web application, please specify "localhost" as the SMTP server with user name and password left blank to send messages through the local mail relay.
I'm using phpBB3. Emails are not being sent when subscribing to a forum (for example when someone posts a new topic). Emails are working for user-to-user emails via phpBB, so it just seems to be a subscribing problem. (This functionality works fine on another server I'm playing with.) I also created a second brand new forum install to see if that would help, but no. Does anyone have any insight on what the problem might be or how to diagnose this? Thanks Ernie
I might be having some success on *one* of my forums. Ignore my question for now. Sorry about that. This has been frustrating... Hopefully I will get something working soon!
I seem to be up and running successfully now. I'm not sure what my problem was before (seems my message queue file got corrupted, among probably another things), but I did a reinstall, used SMTP localhost, and I'm getting email notifications now. I'm so glad to finally have phpBB up and running on DASP.net.
